Summit Ice Center Abuse & Molestation Reporting Requirements

Any Summit Ice Center volunteer who suspects or has reasonable cause to believe that a minor Summit Ice Center participant is the victim of abuse/molestation while participating in any Summit Ice Center activity, is required to immediately report this circumstance to Summit Ice Center. The reporter is not required to have proof that the abuse occurred before reporting. Summit Ice Center requires that employees and volunteers make a report when employees or volunteers have reasonable cause to believe that there is abuse. Waiting for proof may involve grave risk for the child.

How to Report

In the event you believe reasonable suspicion exists, immediately contact Summit Ice Center management.

When making your report, explain as well as you can:

            - Information on the situation including all physical & behavioral indicators observed

            - Other child(ren) who may be affected

            - Nature of the abuse

            - What you think happened or is happening to the child

            - Nature of the child's disabilities, if any

            - Any immediate concerns about the child's safety

            - Location of the child

            - Information about the family, parents and alleged offender(s)

            - Name of a key support person

Upon receiving such a report, “Organization” will follow its Abuse/Molestation response plan.

Please Note: If you as an employee or volunteer have reason to believe or even just suspect that a minor Summit Ice Center participant may be the victim of abuse/molestation by anyone, including but not limited to a Summit Ice Center employee, a Summit Ice Center director, or even a family member of the victim, you may be allowed or even required by state, federal or local law enforcement to make a report to the appropriate authorities.
